Santa Maria Valley Railroad v1 Release Notes

April 25th, 2009 Posted in Santa Maria Route

This route is not my first release, but its the largest one. It has been a long and interesting  journey, beginning from the first day I decided to work on it.

Many thanks to Mr. Dave Jennings, General Manager of the real SMVRR, who provided me with lots of needed information along the way, and who continues to this day.

I also had help from the City of Santa Maria, California with locating some of the industries and general information.

I have tried to keep the detail level to a point where everybody could run it. Unfortunately, no computers are alike, and some people will experience reduced frame-rates. Everything in the distance from tracks has been removed, due to graphics considerations.

I have decide to make this route available as freeware, to Registered GAURC Members. Don’t panic, registration is easy and (most importantly) free.

There is a discussion and support board setup at our Forum, moderated by myself.

Some freeware assets will need to be downloaded from the Auran Trainz Download Station (DLS). Much of the content is non-DLS, but I have gotten permission from some of the creators to include their assets in my route download pack.

1) Download the (219,495kb) SMVRR Route Pack.

2) Download additional freeware assets from the creators:

ProtoLars Megapack
Trainz Pro Routes. Registration required.

Greenery.name
Get all the vegetation, tracks and track textures on pages 1 and 2.

HO TTrainz – Hungary
Get the FMA stuff under Painted Grace in Industrie section. Registration Required.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R Pack
Abandoned vehicles; state of the art stuff.

Material Handlers
Get pack numbers 3 and 5.

I actually had permission to include the next ones in my route pack, but I decided to let the great guys at USLW earn some visitors.  I wish to thank them all for creating these assets.

Many thanks to Neoklai, who allowed me to include his awesome animated creations in my route pack.

My beta-testers on this one were: RGoodell, Jankvis, David and Tonny Jensen… they all did a great job.

There are so many more I would like to thank, but I can’t list them all here; none mentioned-none forgotten.

I hope you enjoy running the route, as much as I enjoyed creating it.

    Hiya Lars!

Thanks for finishing and releasing this product. I can imagine the time and effort put into it. Well done!

I’m downloading it as we speak, but have a few questions about the additional content.

    1. The http://www.trainz.hu/modules/mydownloads/ does not seem to work. Bad link or the site is no longer available.

    2. Material Handlers. Where are packs 3 and 5 under what category?

Think that’s it for now. Thanks for the reply in advance! :)

    Regards,

    Hi,

I have been trying in vain to download the Santa Maria Railroad. I have all the external files downloaded, but for some reason I can’t seem to download the Santa Maria file. What happens is part way through the download it just stops and places a zip file on my computer. However, there is nothing in the zip file. I have attemepted at least 6 times and get the same thing every time. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

    Thanks!

The screenshots look really impressive and I’ll be downloading this route soon. Thank you for it.

How about updates on your new venture up the California coast. I’m heading south from San Jose to Lompoc (at least) in the 50s using fishlipsatwork’s DEMs. End of track was Paso Robles when I was forced to take a couple of months off. Just getting back into it.

I’m particularly interested to see how you render the ocean shore, maybe with a few comments on how you do it? If you have the time, of course.

    Sup Lars!

I got everything that’s needed for the route and it’s really fun! However, there’s one issue with the route…there’s a continuous bell ringing noise. Refer to the support board for more information about the problem!

This layout has been made with TRS2006, hasn’t it? I installed it into TS2010 with some ‘interesting’ effects. The worst of them being that almost all switch levers seem to have been moved so they are not any more where they should be, namely short of the facing side of the node. As a consequence, you cannot throw any switch except by clicking on the arrow in the map view, particularly not by pressing the ‘J’ key for the switch you are approaching.
I am afraid I’ll have to make me a 2010 version just for my personal use. This will of course not go anywhere else.

Yes, as stated in post number 2, this is made for Trs 2006 Sp1.

I am having a problem getting the Material Handlers assets for the SMVRR route. The link you gave seems to have been hijacked. Could you please provide a working link.

    Thanks
