Lets head for North Platte, Nebraska….

July 27th, 2010 Posted in UP's Bailey Yard | 18 Comments »

….And we might find the largest Railyard in the world.

I am of course talking about UP’s Bailey yard. A few weeks ago, i recieved the most interesting copy of Trains magasine i’ve ever seen.

After studying the blueprints inside the magasine, it was clear as sky what the next project would be.

Google earth, streetview and TransDEM Takes care of the needed Topography and Tiles.

As you might know, Nebraska is not the center of the earth, and dosent have the perfect coverage by Google earth, so the tiles is a bit blurry, but its way better than nothing at all.

So far i put in about 40% of the tracks, and fixed about 2% of the terrain. With 345 Track miles, 749 Turnouts it might take a while, but atleast it keeps me busy.

The route will contain every feature a railyard this size should, including Two fully working Humps

Heres a few progresshots:

Ida Terminals Release.

March 20th, 2010 Posted in Ida Yard | 7 Comments »

The time has come to release this route, even though its not 100% done. I have left out some spots here and there, due to the graphic.

The route is heavy enough as it is, highly detailed at several locations. I have used a fair amount of splines, fencing etc which can be deleted if needed, I’m pretty sure a few of the trailers at the terminals also can be removed. Housing along the tracks and in the distance is not necessary either, but i like it like that.

You might notice the bare tracks, forming a loop with a lot of sidings on the right side in the mini map. These are placed there in case i should complete the entire route the way i intended to do, but i have used enough time as it is. Delete them, or build it yourself.

Download link will be posted in the downloadsection at Gaurc Forum.

The download should contain everything you need, at a total of 405Mb as a .RAR file, 500 when extracted

Should there be missing dependencies, i ask you to contact me in the forum, in the Ida Terminal support section

This will help me create The needed servicepack.

It has not been betatested, so there might be Flaws and fuckups.

Slowly getting there….

January 25th, 2010 Posted in Ida Yard | 9 Comments »

Got some work done this weekend, so new shots are ready.

I have decided not to complete the route 100%, There will be some blank spots, and you can do what ever you want with those yourselfs.

First up is one of several entry gates into the terminal. This shots gives a great view of  a small part of the area.

Second shot is the same Terminal, but from the other side

Third up is the same area as the first one, but taken a bit north. You can see part of the Truck entry point

Fourth shot is taken at the second terminal, facing north. As you can see, theres a little bit of work left here.

Same terminal, facing south. Still need to place traffic, Trailers and containers.

The last one is just a mainline shot, approaching The Terminal area of the route.

When this Route is released, i will continue building on it, adding a new DEM map, mostly for personal use.

You might do the same,  as long as you dont release it to the public.

For those who are familiar with my Routes, you might know the detail level is high on several locations, and those who suffers from bad framerates, can easely remove assets like the nearby forrest, or trailers parked at the Terminals and industries. (There are several houndred to pick)

Just like i did last time, i will make a pack containing all assets needed running this route in Trainz 06, SP1

I do not support other version.

Hopefully my next update will be the release notes. No Betas this time.

After this release, time has come to slow things a bit down, spend some more time with my family.

Take care

Lars

It has been a while…..

A new year, and new jobs who needs me…

Still there’s some progress on Ida 2, but not by far as much as i want to, but thats just the way of life.

Wife, kids and three jobs, does take a fair share of my time available.

On top of this, my computer crashed bigtime last weekend. Everthing i stored on the C: Drive got lost, but it was mostly crap anyway.

Spent this week recovering and re-installing the things i need.

My new update will hopefully be this weekend, and i will bring some more updates and screenies.

Thank you for still subscribing to my blog.

Not much progress, but we’ll get there….

December 6th, 2009 Posted in Ida Yard | 8 Comments »

Still working on the terminal area, i think i under estimated the work needed when i added this area.

Oh well, i started it, and im gonna finnish it.  These Pre-christmas day, will mostly be spent at work, finninshing of a 17 Millions NKR project for delivery Dec.15, so dont expect a lot of news in the near future.

After the Terminal area is done, i will start working my way towards Ida Yard, making the connection.

Still going strong…..

November 22nd, 2009 Posted in Ida Yard | 5 Comments »

First of all , i’m sorry for not updating the blog as often as i would or should , but real life is taking a fair share of my time.

I have been working a bit on the Ida V2, adding a few miles of track in each direction, and a few more industries.

As i mentioned earlier, these are mainly TOFC and COFC.

Detailing is about at the same Level as before, so a high end computer would be recomended.

The largest Add on is based on the UP Operated Los Angeles Terminal, located in the  City of Commerce, East LA. This facility is Huge, so it will take some time placing the scenery and textures.

Things dont allways work out as you like……….

October 18th, 2009 Posted in Ida Yard | 7 Comments »

My plan was to announce the new route today, but no go. Seems like CMP tricked me yet again…

My route was gone, but i still have the backup stored on my external HD, so i will import it, and announce it later.

A few weeks ago, i decided to work a bit more on the Ida Yard, not that i didnt like it, but there were several things missing. Some of the downloaders mentioned the way i ended the tracks leaving Ida in several directions, it just didnt feel right.

I started working on adding more Track and industries along the line, and making more out of the departing tracks.

This will be released as a V2 when its done.

Comments and ideas are welcome as allways.

There’s something new down the line….

October 1st, 2009 Posted in Santa Maria Route | 8 Comments »

Hello to everyone. Old friends, subscribers and of course the new ones.

After a long time away from the blog, i think its time start up again. From what i see at the Admin page, my site still got quite a few visitors, even if i dont do much.

As some of you might know, i’m a general contractor. My work is demanding a lot of my “dedicated Trainz time” these days, due to the finnishing of a huge project. When i get back home late at night, i rather spend some time with my wife and  kids.

This dosent mean i’m done with Trainz, and route building.

I’ve recently started a new project, that i will announce when the time is right.  I believe this one will fit best for those who enjoys Hauling Freight, specially COFC and TOFC.

This route is made with DEM and Rastermaps (googletiles).

I would like to thank all of you who posted comments on my last two projects.

I will be back with more info and screenies as soon as possible.
